About the Test

The GAT Physics Test consists of 100 Multiple choice questions. Each question on the test has 1 point. The maximum time allowed is 120 minutes. The Test is Paper Base.
The aim of the Subject part of the test is to determine the extent of the examinees' grasp of fundamental principles and their ability to apply these principles in the solution of problems. Where as the general part of the test evaluate candidates' ability to analyze and understanding of the underlying concept of a given situation.
Most test questions on the subject part of the test can be answered on the basis of a mastery of the first three years of undergraduate physics.

Validity of GAT Physics

The test result will remain valid for TWO YEARS for admissions. You can apply for postgraduate studies throughout Pakistan on the basis this test up to two years. After two years it result will no longer be useful to apply.

Preliminary Requirements

Candidates with a minimum of eighteen (18) years of education in any discipline are eligible to appear in the test. More you can retake GAT Physics to improve your score.


Test Pattern and Syllabus

GAT Physics Test comprises of two parts:
Subject Part: 70% of the test
General Part: 30% of the test
Subject Physics Part
Test questions of GAT Physics are written by committee members and by other university faculty members
who are subject-matter specialists and belong to different areas of Pakistan.
The approximate percentages of the test on the major content topics have been set on the basis of input from a nationwide undergraduate physics curricula. The percentages reflect the relative emphasis placed on
each topic in a typical undergraduate program. These percentages are given below along with the
major subtopics included in each content category.
