That is the time when a Muslim saint and a scholar Hazrat Bahaudin Zakaria made a school of education in the city of Multan where disciples from all over the sub continent came to learn. The university is located just 10km away from the center of the city on an area of about 960 acres.

Following the pattern the government set the foundation of the University of Multan in 1975 and later to pay homage to the great saint, changed its name to Bahaudin Zakaria University. It has over 30 different departments and schools which include Department of Economics, Education, History, Mass communication, Psychology, Sociology, Applied biology, Physics, Statistics, Management Sciences, Commerce, Pharmacy, engineering and so on.
