In 1945 an institute with the name of DOW university of Health sciences was established in Karachi. The university was established because the Sindh government understands the importance of treatment for the patients.

One school specializes in the courses of doctorate and other specializes in the courses of technology such as nursing and medical students. The government of Sindh is managing all the operations of this institute. The foundation of this university was laid by the present governor of Sindh “DR. Ishrat ul Ebad. He also wanted to provide the citizens with some exceptional medical facilities and he took the step of establishing this university in 1990.
